Hi everyone!  I'm in Edinburgh, Scotland right now at an internet cafe....how cool is that!  We went to the castle in Edinburgh yesterday and saw the "honours"  which are a crown, a sword, and a septor that all the royalty have used since like a thousand years.  It was amazing.  They were even buried for 1oo years to protect them for being stolen and no one knew where they were for a long time.  The weather here is 60's but cloudy and damp.  I had a really good dinner of lamb and mashed potatoes with leeks (leeks are in everything).  The jet lag is really weird, we're 5 hours ahead so in the morning I DO NOT want to wake up!   The stores have alot of plaid clothes and things made from wool...I bought some gloves.  We're taking a highland tour on Wed.  ....will see lock ness!!  The drive is supposed to be really pretty.  I'll see you guys next Monday at Bible study.

When people in love do things to hurt the other one, wether intentional or not, they remember them.  If they stay together it's not because they forget, it's because they forgive.

WOW!!! Tonight was so awesome!!!  Lisa and I went to a Keane concert at z104 lounge which is a small semi-private concert.  I have a huge crush now on the lead singer...what an amazing voice..I could listen to it endlessly...and that British accent..YUM!!!!  Okay I feel like I'm back in high school again.  They played 3 songs: "Everybody's Changing", "Bend and Break", and "Somewhere Only We Know".  Tom didn't mess up once..his voice was perfect.  The drums sounded much louder than they do on the CD, and I really liked that because I could feel it more.  The drummer was not feeling well apparently but he still played amazingly.  They were interviewed by the radio DJ's and some audience members and it airs on Z104 this Friday (and a few times after that I am sure).  They were asked why they didn't have a guitar player and they said that their sound is more unique because of that fact and it sets them apart.  We were right in the front row..very close!!!  I was surprised at how tall the singer is.  In the video I think he looks kind of chubby but he's not at all. Lately I have liked short hair on guys but he had kind of longer hair and it was nice on him.  They were all very nice with their answers even though some of the questions were kind of innapropriate.  Afterwards, we got to meet them and have our picture taken with them.  We got an autographed picture of the 3 of them-(Aaron we got you one too and did you get to hear your live music clip on your cell phone?  I had to call you and let you hear a little bit cuz I know you like them so much).  Even though we had a couple of Subway mishaps (right Lisa!), we still had the best time!!

When we got back to Frederick we got some dinner and went straight to Best Buy so Lisa could but a Keane Cd.  I got Snow Patrol and Rufus Wainwright and a Keane Cd to send to my sister Hilary in Scotland (who is in my new picture with me too).  The singer said one of his favorites was Rufus Wainwright and I actually knew who he was talking about because it was on my list of Cd's to buy from Aaron.  I'm all into British music now!  Can't be helped!

This is a painting that my third graders did- I've taught these kids since they were 1st graders.  It is a reproduction of a Cezanne painting that's in the National Gallery, DC.  Each student painted a square from the Cezanne painting (which I cut up into small squares).  Each square had a number on the back so I could tell how to put the painting back together, like a puzzle.  The actual size of the 3rd gr. painting is 4x5 feet.  It amazes me what kids can do.  This is my passion!

Okay, here it is- I'm actually doing a xanga entry.  I had an very fulfilling day.  I am so blessed because as the only art teacher at my school I see all the children at some point during the week.  They are so affirming.  I get comments like, "Your hair is pretty", "I love your necklace" (and this kid even noticed that it was made of glass and that alot of my jewelry is made from glass), "you are such a good artist", "thankyou for teaching us".   Anyway now that I've made myself look really good, the point I'm trying to make isn't how great I am but that if I ever feel down about anything I feel much better by the end of the day because of the kids and I just think it's really cool to have a job where you feel better as the day goes on.  Some of them I've known for 3 years and to me it's like having alot of little friends that look up to me.
